The Mozart family grand tour was a journey via western Europe, undertaken by Leopold Mozart, his spouse Anna Maria, and their musically gifted children Maria Anna and Wolfgang Amadeus from 1763 to 1766. At the beginning of the tour the youngsters have been aged eleven and seven respectively. Their extraordinary abilities had been demonstrated throughout a visit to Vienna in 1762, when they had played before the Empress Maria Theresa at the Imperial Court. Throughout the next tour, the youngsters’s Wunderkind status was confirmed as their precocious performances persistently amazed and gratified their audiences. Leopold wanted to begin the tour as soon as possible—the younger the youngsters have been, the extra spectacular would be the demonstration of their items.
